Hi Mary – Jo, Eric and Martin.
I am a Canadian from
Post and beam single story with the timber coming from my bush.
Large overhanging almost flat living roof.
Post and beam will be infilled with strawbales.
All strawbale voids will be filled with a lose straw/ papercete mix.
Papercrete sprayed stucco scratch coat and second coat.
Final coat will be a more traditional lime stucco
Heating will come from solar collectors which will deposit the bulk of the heat during the warm months into the ground under the home to be released gradually through the winter.
Wood stove back up if required.
I will likely build a shop on the property first using these techniques both as practice/learning experiences and just as importantly to get the local building inspector on side. Martin you are correct in saying our biggest hurdle is getting our approvals. I am not sure how it is in
There are many Strawbale homes now built in

Subject: [papercreters] intruducing myself...
Hello everyone,
My name is Mary-Jo, and me and my husband Eric just joined this group and we are trilled
with all the info we found because of you all. We live close to
you might know, our first language here is french so excuse my pour english). We were
looking at ways to build in green and we thought papercrete is a fabulous product. So we are
wondering if anybody have ever heard about papercrete project in our cold, north and snowy
country. We wanted to build a 20 x 30, 2 levels house and we were afraid about if all our
snow and rain would be a problem to this kind of construction. Is there any specific things we
should be thinking of doing to make sure our house will go through time (hopefully many
years...) ? Any advises will be good and really appreciated from us.
We really look forward to learn more about all this and hopefully get to know some of you
better.
Best regards to all of you,
Mary-Josee
