[papercreters] Re: PC for patching hole in bricks?

Thanks, SG...again, part 1 is the killer for me.... And, since this
has been an open hole (behind a shutter) for nearly 30 years (and will
be behind new shutters in the near future, I'm not worried about the
structural integrity of the house.

Update on my experiments today...

The papermache/clay mix that was unmolded on the sand was "handleable"
(able to be set on its side) after a couple of hours. The other mold
was still slumpy. I realize that this isn't papercrete but rather a
fortified paper mache. But, after watching the videos, I now have a
sense of how this stuff is supposed to look/feel/pour/mold, etc.

The small brick of clay/paper/sand/pozzolanic paperclay/acrylic paint
mix was baked in the oven (this is the same stuff I put over the
stuffed hole) for two hours and is EXTREMELY hard. I've whacked at it
pretty hard. I placed a small wafer from another flatter, thinner
piece into water to see what will happen to it.

The area of my brick where the hole was is as high as where an outdoor
light would be beside a door...in fact, it may have been an accidental
misplacement when the house was built. Today it was baking in the sun
with the dark brown of the brick absorbing tons of heat to aid in the
curing of the mixture.

I know this wouldn't be the choice of any you but it seems to be
working so far.

A bandaid, for sure, but the hole is patched.
