Re: [papercreters] Re: How good is it?

There are trash pumps, and there are "trash" pumps. If you are renting (or buying) one be sure to check the size of particles it is rated to pump. The 2" one I bought came with a rating of 1 1/2" particles but the first time it clogged and I had to break it down I found that the vanes on the rotor have 3/4" spacing, so the maximum particle it could possibly pump would be smaller than 3/4".

It works pretty well as long as the pc is clean and doesn't have any junk in it. A small rock, paperclip, or piece of undigested paper can stop the flow and cause me to tear the pump down to remove the obstruction, a fifteen minute procedure. That doesn't sound so bad, but doing it several times a day adds up fast.

My friend George bought a more expensive 4" trash pump that has only two vanes on the rotor and will pump anything that will go down the hose. That's what you need.

Maybe she's workin on her girlish figure? Or maybe she wants to work those shoulder muscles? Honestly though, Dan's right...once it goes beyond difficult & becomes actually painful...it's time to find a better way. Those trash pumps are friggin awesome.
