Re: [papercreters] Impeller pump mixer?

Hi George,

I ran my own waste pumping business for over 12 years so I understand
where you are coming from. The only drawback I see with you concept is
that pumps can never suck with as much pressure as they can blow. The
effect you get from this is that the paper may nbuild up over the inlet
and block it. It is amazing how strong the paper will build up, causing
the pump to cavitate (suck vaccumm). This will in turn cause the paump to
run dry and risk burning out the bearings (depending on your pump of
course).

To aviud this the outlet should be under pressure and aimed directly at
the inlet, but I still see problems at this point. The idea has great
merit if you can avoid the inlet from clogging though as pumps break paper
up quite well.

Just on a side not and not sure if you are aware of them or not but a
clamshell intake will make you pump much more efficient at sucking the
last of the mud out of the pools without having to be held down.
