[papercreters] CAST PC "TILE"FLOORS

I was hoping to make 18" square, 1/2" thick papercrete tiles (molds
are available for a slate look. I thought that by making the tiles
then installing it would prevent the problem of long dry time or a
reaction in my subfloor (whatever was under the carpet - looks like
masonite) Does this sound doable to you?
____________

1/2" IS FAR TOO THIN, MORE LIKE -2" IS BEST.

I HAVE MADE 2" THICK SAWDUST LIME-CLAY-SAND TILES ( FIBER ADOBE)

First I took a form the shape of a real slate tile I had, ( 12 x 12")
then laid the slate face down in the form ( a sturdy 4" tall
cardboard box.-- then poured in my wet mix, and set in the sun to
cure.

week/s later I could tear off the cardboard, flipover the "tile" and
used it as a stepstone set on gravel OUTSIDE in the weather, very wet
winters here.

It lasted 3 years before the slade disjoined fromthe "tile" and is
STILL sitting there.I could mortar the slate back on, but have not
bothered.

I like to take things to failure..only way to know how long it could last.

for instance for people who love earthen floors and spend lots oftime
on their knees spreading and leveling and working that dang floor I
dont know why theu don't do a rougher first poured layer, and level it
with a precast stronger fibercrete tile, or embed real tiles or
slates into the surface. insteadof worrying over chair legs and sharp
objects damaging a very soft floor .. a nice looking earthen floor is
a lotttaaawork. and still needs repairs. but it is personal taste.
