I agree that there should be plenty of places to get paper if you get
creative. Just a few cooperative neighbors and a bin or barrel at the
end of your driveway can generate substantial supplies. Unless you are
planning to mix more than a load a day, your neighbors should be able to
supply enough paper for typical uses.

You mentioned credit cards and plastic. I recently finished a 55 gallon
drum mixer driven by a 2 HP motor with self-cleaning blades patterned on
a food processors' blade design. It will cut most plastic, including
credit and bank cards, as I found out yesterday. However, as with any
mixer, it will snag on string, especially if it catches on the shaft.
