Going to a class and having someone teach you has benifits, but if you read through this site you will have all the knowledge you can get from any class. You will need some basic tools to make papercrete. A heavy duty drill, a mixing/slurry blade and a 5 gallon bucket. Add paper, water, cement and stur until it makes a grey slurry. Pour it into a form which will allow the water to quickle drain away and wa la. Papercrete. After you get your feet wet and blow a few batches of slurry all over the place, you will figure out if this is the medium you want to work with. But no matter which class you go through, if you dont make that first batch of slurry, all you are doing is counting angels on pinheads. This is not complex stuff. It is grownup paper mache. That is all. Do not think of this as cement or concrete. It is not. The first few batches will shrink like nobody's business. You learn to adapt. If SE NM there is a very active pcreeter bunch. I bet somebody would let you help them if you asked. The tow mixer is about a simple piece of equipment there is. If you have basic welding skills, you can make one or have a local welder do it for you. If you are one of those people who tries to reaearch every aspect of something so when you start there will not be any mistakes, this is not the medium for you. You make mistakes, change and go forward. None of the people selling classes knew any more about papercrete than you do when they started. Few took classes form anybody. I met Mike McCain he showed me his setup and then told me I could come up with all the new ideas I wanted, but if Iwas not making slurry why waste the time. Grab a bucket drill and some newspaper. Study the archives and the pictures. If you are smart enough to find this site you are smart enough to make papercrete.
Welcome and dont worry, make slurry!
