As an alternative to YM, we have tested Trillian and it works fine with the chat mode, and is compatible with most of the other IM clients, too. I personally prefer it over that yahoo junk software (OPINION!) and if you have issues with YM like I did, give this one a try. Just click to download. Oh yeah, it's free and open source.
