Hi Charmaine,
When you say lime are you always referring to slacked lime?
Hi yes I am, you cant easily get 'hot' lime which is too dangerous for
the average DIYer to handle, and the factory wants to sell truck
loads, not a few barrels.
ALL lime you buy is slaked, and bagged up, ready to use. it just
means it has been processed for use and sale and only needs more water
added to make a lime putty, add sand and fiber, and then it is a
plaster and mortar. a very simple product to use. 90+ percent of
cement is limestone/lime with clay and other ingredients to make it
set up fast. lime cures slowly giving you hours and days or working
time.
on papercrete use it is just ONE aspect of making a product, but you
WANT a fast set with PC blocks, usiing the lime as a grout or mortar
is good, but not absolutely needed.
it is just what I do when making infill, blocks, plasters etc.
there is lots of free info online, and at www.papercrete.com on lime use
