This is the first I've heard of "hybrid"-tufa.
There has consistently been hypertufa stuff on ebay for some time now.
It shows up whenever you search for papercrete on that auction site.
There is a Yahoo group dedicated to hypertufa:

I'm don't know anything about the group, good or bad. The picture of
the tree sculpture on their home page looks like someone had fun with
the stuff.
