[papercreters] Re: What are you building with Papercrete?

I'm REALLY new to the list, having only recently become aware of
papercrete, but it sounds like just the thing for walkways through the
garden, in say approx. 3' squares. My husband has worked some with CEB
(compressed earth blocks) so alternative building materials are always
intriguing to us. I figured to use sackrete and the recycled paper
intended for blown insulation, which is available and pretty cheap at
Home Depot.

Our conditions here at the north edge of Houston may make papercrete
inappropriate but I 'd like to try. Houston gets a LOT of rain...we
had very few rain free days for three months, almost never two in a
row. Much of our yard and garden stood under an inch or two of water
most of that time! I have questions:

Is papercrete likely to last here?
How thick should I make the blocks to keep them from floating out of
place?
Is 3' square too large or too small?
Ought I to include something to discourage mold? If so, what?

I'm really eager to get started, now that the rains have dropped back
to merely scattered and no hurricanes are on the horizon.
