You're using clay, right? I don't put any dirt in my pc, just paper, cement, and sometimes borax. Within a few minutes of pouring it shrinks away from a mold, leaving an air gap, and the mold easily lifts right off.
IIRC you use a lot of cement also, and it sets up in a few hours. Just paper and a small amount of cement takes days to cure. Both papercrete but vastly different products.
