Re: [papercreters] extruded polypropylene as aggregate

By definition it won't be papercrete, and I suspect that it won't act much like papercrete. The ferrocement guys have done a lot of experimenting with various fibers. They mix with very little water and usually rub the thick mix onto an armature. It might be worthwhile to check out www.ferrocement.net for information and mix recipes.

The MSDS for polypropylene shows it to be benign, with a little dust hazard. Not carcinogenic, and it doesn't release harmful vapors unless you heat it.

I have just found a couple of tons of bagged extruded polypropylene that I can have for the hauling. I am getting it now but wonder what others think of using it instead of paper and what formula would be best to mix it for blocks and logs. Thanks, Bruce
