I figured a few people might find this useful.
I've been playing around recently with several FREE software programs. I discovered "Sweet Home 3d". Don't be confused, this particular software will NEVER be confused with AutoCad. However, it does do some things fairly well, all things considered. It certainly is a lot more simple to learn to use than AutoCad.
Important to note is that you can draw wall, and then double click the wall to set the thickness of that wall to whatever you want.
The primary purpose the software was designed for is furniture layout and interior design, not as an architecture program. However, it can be useful for someone that wants to play around with various designs.
