[papercreters] Re: Papercreters Pail O' Papercrete Competition. ~ Lynda Leonard Entry 4 Competition

I find it interesting that Lynda used Quikrete "Vinyl Concrete Patcher" mix in her papercrete.

I have not experimented with the Vinyl Patching stuff. No doubt it has some interesting properties compared to standard cement. For one thing, I don't think the Vinyl Patcher mix has any large aggregate in the mix like a typical Quikrete Concrete mix would have. The lack of aggregate is a good thing because it allows Lynda to more easily work her final mix into smaller detailed areas of her molds.

Also, according to the Quikrete website, when the Patcher material (when mixed without paper) is applied onto damaged concrete, it adheres well and can be troweled as thin as 1/16".

I have little doubt that Lynda's Vinyl Papercrete mix is much more plastic and clay-like than a simple papercrete using paper/cement/sand.

She may be doing it by "feel", but her feelings clearly have served her well.
