[papercreters] A little light reading Ranch Costa Nada by Phil Garlington

I was wandering through a used book store yesterday and came across a book called Rancho Costa Nada by Phil Garlington.
It bills itself as The Dirt Cheap Desert Homestead.
I dont see how you missed this book Charmaine!
Anyhoo, there are some interesting concepts in the book that could work with PC. The main one I am interested in is the dirt filled columns which set over a poured concrete base. These columns are made of 12 X 12's but could be made in any width as they are made from recycled boards, shipping pallets, etc.
The columns spaced 3-4 feet apart are the support with the opening filled with sandbags and newspaper bundles.
Using PC the columns could be used for slip forming, or use PC blocks as infill. A cement shell over the entire thing for protection.
Also a lot of desert philosophy by people who spend their life in a hostile environment.
The book is $16 and can be ordered from the author as there is a web site.
