RE: [papercreters] Passive solar papercrete homes?

I just want to add that the comments on this subject and the answers/suggestions are excellent. These will go in my file for sure. The practical experience is invaluable.

I am in New Mexico where it is not as hot as it would be at a lower elevation but we do have some very hot days in July and August. The wind, which is considerable, feels like a hair dryer blowing on you. I'm living in an early 80s vintage trailer while I build. I find that if I do the closing up in the morning and open again after sunset the place stays pretty comfortable, even without good insulation. That's because it cools off here at night. I realize there are some places where that doesn't happen and the humidity will drive you crazy. I lived in central Ohio for a couple of years and couldn't stand it. The climate was one of the biggest factors in my decision to come back to NM. We had to run the AC or there would have been insanity I am sure.

So what it comes down to is use common sense and adapt all this info to your own circumstances. That's what life is all about.

Sincerely, Judith

Has the anonymous person x never spent a July in NJ? When I say hot and sticky I mean hot and sticky.
