[papercreters] Re: Hesco R-House Prices and Questions

Tina,

You probably already know this, but some Papercreters members may not be aware. Googling, "Gabion" and looking at the variety of possibilities of building using that technique can be eye opening. It's extremely common to make large retaining walls.

You definitely would want to have some serious equipment to help move the stone. My back hurts just looking at the pictures. UHHHHHHHHHHHGH

Also... you state that you and your husband have no experience building anything.

I highly recommend that you volunteer a Saturday or two and help with a Habitat for Humanity build in your area. You'd be surprised how much you can learn. They are used to having unskilled volunteers show. Experts and verterans will show and explain various things to you.

Granted... I doubt that Habitat will be building with Gabions, but you'll still get a good introduction about typical home construction. It won't cost you anything but time and minimal transportaion to the site. Helping someone else is pretty kewl too.
