Your clay/cardboard mix sounds interesting. Excellent use of available materials. I'm glad to see you looking into Boric Acid. Your clay/cardboard only mix might be vulnerable to mold/mildew without some kind of inhibitor. Hopefully your clay content is high enough to inhibit fire or smoldering of the cured/dried final product.
