[papercreters] Re: Stucco blaster

Just happened to drop by and thought I should chime in...

I'm currently having good results using a Graco 1030 texture sprayer, can't use their gun because it clogs up but you can make a simple PVC gun and then their pump and hose will work. (See pics section for gun image)

I'm also using a Smith 100 air compressor, which unfortunately is obsolete so parts have to be scrounged or made, but the compressor uses a Ford 302 engine with half the engine providing power and the other half making air pressure. The air side of the compressor was shot when I bought it but after I figured out how it worked it was easy to fix, just needed some new o-rings and a set of springs, the parts cost a grand total of $10 I think. Smith made their own cylinder head for the compressor side, and since the only parts that seem like they might fail are readily available I am going to keep it for now. It will do 100 CFM which is about the minimum for continuous spraying with the Graco pump. When it's going well, the compressor cycles down to idle, but only barely.

If anyone wants to come see the setup shoot me an email, I'm just north and east of Dallas TX.
