Thanks Trev,
I am about as mechanical as a fence post! But will pass your info on the right people.
I can slave on certain things but not this type of thing.
I do well with a list a picture and some wit, but fail most of the time. But I do try, as there is a huge differnce between "can do and will do". I always try
but fail many a time.

Hi All,
It strikes me that the right angle gearbox from a tractor mounted grass slasher would be the right size for a stationary mixer about the same size as a tow mixer. Depending on the size of the mower power input is up to 60hp. It already has the splined inputs and outputs for shaft connections, with a wide variety of shafts and shaft adaptors available off the shelf. They are also designed for severe shock loadings, so coping with mulching paper would be a cinch. It could be driven by an old tractor, or truck engine and gearbox with a modified governor. Most likely it would also need a reduction box between the box and the drive shaft to get the rpm right, as most tractor ptos are designed for 550rpm, and the RPM from an engine and gearbox would definitely be too hight. There are inexpensive reduction boxes for PTOs available that would bolt straight in, you would just need to consider the HP rating (torque) ie if you use a 20Hp tractor through a 3.1 box then the slasher box needs to cope with 60hp.
Main issue I can see is similar to that with a tow mixer, sealing the mixer shaft, but since it can be done with a tow mixer then...

Yea Elliot, I would like to see one of those also. We have way to many hills and ruts to drive a tow mixer with. I also see a stationary one as mixing while I am doing other things. Thanks for asking.
