This design could easily be scaled down to an appropriate size for your munchkin horses. Halving the diameter would cut the needed material to 1/4 of what was needed for the larger dome, so it would end up weighing about 500 pounds. A 5/9 sphere 10' diameter would be just tall enough for you to stand up.
