Re: [papercreters] Old books used for papercrete?

I have used old books. I first ripped off the cardboard covers to not overload my mixer. They worked well. Old phonebooks are great, too, and you can get them from a recycling center. The binding glue plays havoc with a sprayer or a pump so it should be removed also.

Has anyone use shredded books for making papercrete? In our area of central New York state after library book sales, the libraries almost always landfill the remaining books. Most are hard cover (they can't be recycled with the covers on). Seems as though the paper would work just fine for pc, but was wondering what you all think of the covers. I would either have to tear off the covers or run the books through a hammermill to sufficiently shred the covers. Also wondering about the glue used in the binding? Would that interfere with anything? Chris Yahoo!
