[papercreters] Re: Old books used for papercrete?

I'm NOT finding fault with anyone here. Everyone needs to do what is
best in their situation. I just need to do a little personal venting
to keep my sanity.

Maybe I'm nostalgic for the past. With the modern digital age and so
much information available, books don't have the value they once did.

I'm sure books would make good papercrete, but I don't know if I could
handle it emotionally. I'd probably want to hold some kind of memorial
service every time I fired up a mixer with books in it. <sigh>

My reading preferences are certainly not mainstream. I tend to enjoy
books that aren't very popular. Lots of non-fiction. Sadly the
unpopular books are often the first ones to get disposed.

I can remember some days back in Jr. High/High School when I was force
fed certain books and required to read them. I wouldn't have minded
pulping those boring pages at the time. I've grown significantly as a
person since those days. Books tend to be treasures for me.

I'm glad newspaper is so readily available. I don't know if I'd be
making papercrete if I had to make it out of books. I might have an
emotional breakdown. Uh... well... maybe some would argue that's
already happened and I'm beyond hope.

I will express my HOPE that if someone can find another source of paper
than books, I'd hope they'd at least TRY that route and TRY to find
homes for the books where they'd get read and appreciated. Sadly I'm
very much aware that's becoming more and more difficult to do every
day. Many books end up in landfills. I think that's the situation
being discussed here, and I understand. It still feels a little
painful, though.

Okay... I got that out of my system. I'll dry my tears and we can
go back to talking about papercrete.
