Mostly good for me too.
Perhaps a more helpful discussion would be which tools from these stores have seemed particularly good, and which have been problematic for you.
I see you started that with the discussion of the 12v pump. Is that the stainless steel model with garden hose sized connectors on it, item
9576? I considered getting one of those for use with an experimental solar water setup.
For me, particularly good:
- Chicago Electric 4" angle grinder, item 91222. Useful for many things, cutting metal, cutting tile & concrete block, heavy duty course sanding, etc.
- Air nailers. I have several of their air nailers, a wood flooring nailer/stapler, a 15g finish nailer, an air stapler, etc. All these air tools have worked very well for me. In fact, that floor nailer replaced one I paid almost twice as much for, and it works much better.
- Likewise, I got a cheap air hammer/chisel set from them which works incredibly well. It's made several difficult jobs managable. Not bad for under $10.
Not so good:
- Heavy duty drill, item 47991. It actually works fine, but the variable speed control burnt up while I was mixing morter with it one time. The chuck in it seems kind of sloppy too, like it's not completely straight. It's less then a year old, so it shouldn't be worn out yet.
- Flashlights. I've had several. They all seem to work well at first, then over time they either stop working, lose some of the LEDs, etc. There's one LED keychain light that I really like for it's size and because it's difficult to turn on accidentally (meaning, it doesn't use up the battery while it's in your pocket), but after a couple of months, it starts getting flakey. You can often get it to work again by screwing and unscrewing the top (where you'd replace the batteries...which cost more then the flashlight if you try to buy replacements...) and there may be one tiny spot where it'll work for a minute. The batteries are clearly still good, but it's not making good contact inside. I've tried contact cleaners and stuff and nothing seems to help.
Maybe that's a good start...anyone else want to chime in?
