[papercreters] crafty-crete- be careful on plants in cement pots

Hi all... I love making shapes and pottery with papercrete type
mixes. but in the short youtube clip the guy cheerfully sings about
curing the cement-moss pot for 2 days- to a week, then plant in therm
right away!! wait.

Cement only a few weeks old is caustic to tender roots and plants and
will likely kill off anything you plant. The true British versions
of Hypertufa pottery and sinks teach to
let the new made objects to sit outside in the rain all winter or to
flood-wash extremely well ( as in waste a lot of water!)

waiting over winter is advised- so all then any 'burning' effect of
the cement is gone.

I use clay and lime and sawdust ( and-or paper) to make a softer
pottery, and it works fine, and very slowly disintegrates over time
in the garden, little bowls going back to nature is kinda cool

my basic mix is 12 parts sawdust, 4 -5 parts clay- 1-2 parts lime (
hydrated lime) and I often add some cross shredded paper, or fibers.
the lime does not burn or affect the roots since it is in smaller
amount, and is mixed into the clay.

in the clip he struggled with a big plastic sheet, I just slide any
bowls, big or small into a grocery plastic bag, or thin trash can
liner.. much easier to do, and peel right off easily.
