Does the electric wiring run over the ceiling? If so, you'll have to
build a set of chases for it so whatever insulation you choose doesn't
come into contact with the wires. Then, I'd look into picking up a
bunch of old denim clothing to shred for the insulation. Or you can get
cellulose (was once used for packing material in shipping crates,
sometimes still is!), or ??? I would definitely not recommend sawdust,
shavings, or straw, even if the material is 'fireproof' treated.
You might look around at your local auctions, junque shops, etc. for a
window that you like, and re-frame the opening? We have ReUse
Industries and they always have more windows (and doors) than they can
sell! I have my beady little eye on one window set that has been
sitting there for awhile; the bow window in the TV room leaks (and the
seals are broken too) and I want to replace it with one that's flush
with the framing. Actually I want to try building a couple of sheds
before I tackle the add-ons for this house, so I just might let those
windows go -- or incorporate them into the new design...
