[papercreters] Re: Testing of papercrete

For any test to be acceptable by your local building department it
will need to be something official. The garage/basement testing that
Duane, myself, and others have done won't help you with permits etc.

I know what I would do if I were you. I'd research the local
colleges, universities, and professional engineers and geologists.
Next time I drove into Santa Fe, I'd toss a dozen or so blocks into
the back of the pickup. I'd see how many people I could surprise by
plopping a block on their desk. Don't try to introduce yourself to
them on the phone, they just won't get it. Papercrete is wierd stuff
for people used to traditional materials to understand. When they
see the block of papercrete it will get their curiosity up. Oh yeah,
take a sharpie and write your name, phone number, and maybe email
address on the block.

What guy could resist getting a cute girl's phone number in such
dramatic fashion? (Guys are suckers like that.)

hehehe

missed this. I'm not really set up here to do much testing on my
blocks. Is there or will there be a provision for blocks to be sent
to someone for testing? The most I've done is observe what happens
after a heavy rain or snow. Once I threw a large block into the
campfire and it was gone by morning but that was about as
unscientific as you can get. I don't mean to seem lazy, just was
wondering if I could get some definitive testing results on my own
blocks. I'm considering going for a permit on my building as it is
and then continue from there. There's only one small section that is
load bearing but I speculate that will be the thing they focus on
since the rest is post and beam. Thanks to all of you. I'm just
getting started on a new video and will let you know when it's done.
