I've been following the posts for awhile now. While
thinking on how to seal a barrel vault or dome roof
with something to let the papercrete breath II came
across the following. I hope Lime hasn't been done to
death.
I would have given you the Tiny URLS but haven't
figured out how to get them from the web site to the
e-mail page.
Slurryguy, Thank you for your assistance last week.
Type S Lime: A history of the development of type S
lime and how it works. Mostly, it needs to be
hydrated for a short period of time before it can be
used.

Hydraulic Lime: Really neat stuff

Hydraulic Lime: Again- The bad news- The good news is
the article references a place in CA you can get it
and I found a place in VA that imports it.

Quote is from the above url:
"In the United States, to my knowledge, the last plant
to produce hydraulic lime was in Riverton, Va. They
have recently stopped production, after being bought
out by Essroc. Essroc is now using the raw material
that was used to produce hydraulic lime, to produce
cement. This is the last episode of a story that has
continually happened in the United States in the 20th
century. The production of hydraulic lime is now mainly
concentrated in Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Germany,
Belgium, and mainly France, in its southwest region).
Contrary to what has happened to hydraulic lime
production in the United States, Europe's production
is increasing at a steady rate."
Pozzolans/lime: The really good news is that you don't
need hydraulic lime if you add a puzzling to the Type
S lime to make it set. Put a smile on my face and I'm
sure it'll make the Meta Kaolin fans happy also.
