Re: [papercreters] target for a bow and arrow

Hey Evelyn,

The art of long bow construction is a dying survival art.  You might like to check out Dave Canterbury's videos on YouTube.  He runs a business called Wilderness Outfitters and a school called the Pathfinder.  Ex-military, he's real keen on survivalism.  He's even got a long bow video where he makes one from a green sapling.  Dave's competing for a chance to have a survival show on Discovery TV since Les Stroud is moving on to a whole new show format and nobody really does like Bear Gryllis for the survival elements (it's all show and go.. hollywood style no less).  Dave's the real deal!  Lots of neat things in his YouTube channel.

I've always wanted to learn to use a bow and arrow. Not the modern fancy ones just the traditional bow and arrow. I just took a class where we made a bow and arrow and it is a serious one. I'm not going to use it to hunt only for target practice. I don't want to buy a target really but have a silly one I made today out of an old Styrofoam ice chest stuffed with cardboard with a black circle on the outside <smile>. Do you think that papercrete would work for a target if I was not to put cement or sand in it? If so, what formula would be good in your opinion. Thanks, Ev
