Re: [papercreters] Re: extracting fibres from paper

Hi Bob

Sorry to ask, What is a chipper? is it a shredding machine.

I did think about using a massive drum type operation that used a 240vlt spinning base and at any given time would hold within the drum up to 3/4 tons of newprint, with the combination of water and momenton and time I would pursume the the fibres would extract themself from themselves? what do you think!

I want to try and avoid shredding, as you are fully aware that by shredding you are shortening the chances of the fibre being recycled again and again.

Thanks Bob

I once threw a newspaper into our brush chipper, the results were "Dramatic", to say the least.  I plan to use it to pre-shred the paper for my PC.

I do this with all my cardboard and other items that don't break down as pulp until they are run through the chipper. Biggest prolbem is how to catch the output, right now I'm still using the bag that came with the chipper but that requires a lot of emptying. I'm trying to come up with some sort of big wire cage that would catch the shreds and be easy to empty.
