Hi Nolan, Thanks for you advice. Just came upon some good books today that Charmaine had sent with a messages. I now want to buy everyone of them, but money does not allow. Has anyone used or read "The Greal Goods Indpendent Builder Designing and Building A House Your Own Way"? I have designed two houses but the first is my dream, but afraid of the tax man. The second is not working for me. I have to get this done soon, as we have to submitt (our own thoughts) to the county assessor for taxing reasons. The area where we are building does not have tons of building codes but I want no surprises at all with those folks. I plan on sending a book list if this guy is interested. The only reason we will submit a materials list is that they tax you on materials, labor and sq footage. We want them to see how low cost is it, as we have all used doors, windows, trim etc. I have to have well thought out plans , I am not a let's just try this or that, I need a plan. Out in the sticks you have to be ready for most everything. So I want to build and then spray it with the final coats. Can one put a colorant in the final coat, so you don't have to paint it later? We want it to blend with the land, do not want a city house in the country. You all know what I mean , a house that blend with the landscape so it looks part of it. My first step may be to finish the outside of an old mobile home if we can get it cheap enough, so that I have an on site place to live. It would add insulation to the mh so that it would be better in the winter time. It could then become part of the total design. We are such novices, so all of your advice is so wonderfull. Our 15 year old son will be the only one out there with me almost 99 percent of the time. There are so many things to think of, and I do not have a long time to get this project done. It needs to be completed as much as possible before the snow falls next winter. I do not want to move back to the city, but continue on cold days to get as much done as possible. Any and all words of wisdom will be well taken. Time to hit the store, weekly sales ending, so must tear myself away from my love, learning how to build alternative homes. Calle and the gang

Good morning Calle and everyone, You have found one of the best groups on the net for up to date information on PC. There are lots of people here that are happy to help. Spaceman has done a great job of sharing home built versions of sprayers. He has also come up with inventive ways to mix and build. His site is worth seeing for details. Mikey Sklar and Bob Merrill have the updated versions of our plaster sprayer. They can share first hand papercrete spraying advice. Bob has done amazing work with Papercrete while building in a wet climates. He technique is to spray a thin layer all the way around the structure and then come back and do another lift. This gives time for the maximum surface area to dry the mix. Bob Merrill also uses the sprayers for papercrete stucco as a finishing mix. A couple years ago we made a family trip to Northern Washington and saw one of the most beautiful hand finished homes I had ever been in. Bob started with a barn that needed to be quickly turned in to a house for a family with several children. His papercrete stucco had a workable texture that was much easier to apply than some traditional cement mix stucco. The end result was something that should have been in a magazine. When you get to finishing your home, I would suggest contacting Bob and getting the details. The new stucco sprayers have several improvements that I have wanted to do for some time. There is still a non-rusting hopper but now we have added a sturdy handle to the back of it for a new grip point. We also made the jets unscrew so they can be replaced if clogged and adjusted to match the compressor you have. The standard size jets are installed the hopper sprayer and the larger jets are with the cleaning kit. If you have a larger compressor, you can switch to the larger jets and spray the plaster harder. (This can also help remove some extra water in the spraying). We feel very fortunate to be offering a made in the USA product. Our goal is to help people build great homes. We have an updated web site at www.mortarsprayer. com . It now includes resource areas. One of the resource sections I will be working to expand is the papercrete section. If anyone has pictures of successful projects or details they would like to share, please let me know. I would like to say thank you to everyone on this list that has done so much to help others get started building. There are great things happening here on the list. From now through the end of January, please let us know that you are on the list and we will offer free shipping when you buy a sprayer.
