Hawaii is substantially drier than many Tropical areas.  When I lived in the north east of Brazil if you did not wash cloths after wearing them they would have mold growing on them by the next day.  In humidity that thick (for lack of a better word) it takes very little difference in temperature to form a damp surface.

I spent a week in Hawaii in February.  I never saw condensation on anything . . . except the mirror in the bathroom after I showered. 

 

Surface condensation occurs when there is a specific different between air temperature and surface temperature at a given relative humidity. 

 

Here's a much better explanation of surface condensation.  It's computer, not house related but the science is the same.
