RE: [papercreters] Thanks to each of you in your support. It means so much. Permission from Mods (Not a money making venture, but educational)

I know things can get discouraging especially when you have worked so hard and are tired beyond belief. Sometimes it helps to take a little break. I remember when my husband an I were building 25 or so years ago. We were such workaholics! When it all got to be too much we would take a couple of days and go to a nearby motel, one with a pool and hot tub. We took our favorite beverages, ate at restaurants and slept a large percentage of time. I'm so thankful my mother was closeby and could stay with the kids (the last 2 were born during the building process). One of our favorite getaways was taking a watercolor workshop in Santa Fe. We were really able to get our minds on something different --- and we ended up with a couple of nice paintings. Now I am on my own and building with papercrete. I have a lot of help from friends but still have to be careful not to get too intense.

I would say maybe you need a little treat. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing candidly. All of this experience whether positive or otherwise is very helpful to all of us.

Too much stress in my life right now.

Kids can drain a mom in short order.

The thought of finally having lights at night,  or using a mixer is beyond exciting.

Creating something out if nothing takes far too much time, effort and energy.
Our learning curve on Earthbag building has been brutal.
When we lost a 19 ft wall last fall we were crushed emotionally,  no one was injured, but my husband and teen were heart broken.

So when Spaceman says it is horrible to see your sprayed wall slide to the ground,  we know the feeling.

I wanted to papercrete the bag walls, but hubby has been using our clay/sand soil to make adobe crate.

It is so labor intensive with a little concrete mixer, hauling water and running a genie for hours.

We are hoping that our rather mild winter means that the plastic covered walls and the covered adobe crete walls are standing and remain stable.

Labor intensive beyond belief.

Please remember that you only heard from a couple of members out of the over 1,800 here. Don't let a couple of vocal aggressive people appear to be a majority. Obviously none of the objectors went and actually read the group home page outlining what is acceptable here.

We would hate to lose you as a member. You have been around for a long time and as one of the ones "doing it" we like to hear your infrequent updates.

Thanks Spaceman for the note on why our messages are other places, never thought about "yahoo", pulling the plug,  very smart of you guys.

You are so correct, won't ever approach this group again.

I will try to get your email and Judith addresses in my address book.

Thanks for all of your work.

Wish the couple who have gotten so far on their house would post again.

Later,

Calle
