Thank you for your insight on rebar. I have always felt that rebar was a waste of effort and money, after seeing how the papercrete shrinks away from it over time. I will add that I think it is actually a detriment to the strength of the papercrete because it would introduce a rigid member that would cut through the papercrete in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster. I am interested to hear from anyone with experience in this area. Is there anything that would perform as rebar would but would not compromise the integrity of the papercrete? I think the papercrete on its own would be great in a storm or earthquake. It seems like whenever I see earthquake footage on the news it is the inflexiblilty of the earthen buildings that causes them to fall. Ideas anyone?

Rebar in papercrete ends up being surrounded by a void and does not add much strength, other than holding pieces together if you should hit it with a truck or something, or if you live in an earthquake zone. IMHO in most cases rebar is a waste of money in this application.
4" panels will give you around R9-12 which is not a lot by modern standards. I'd recommend at least 6" and preferably 12" thick.
