Re: [papercreters] Invitations to help build with papercrete

I'm not sure what is meant here.  Post and beam construction usually starts with the posts and beams, then infill for the walls.   If I am interpreting this correctly, you are going to frame the walls and pour papercrete walls first, and then after a few weeks of drying pour the concrete posts at the ends of the walls.

Subject: [papercreters] Invitations to help build with papercrete

I am planning a small mobile chicken house.  I've mentioned it on the list at least once already.  I am planning a papercrete pumphouse as well, but want to use the chicken house to test my process.

I'm building the chicken house on skids.  The base will be 6'x8'.  The plan is for post and beam construction with papercrete infill.  The posts will be concrete with rebar reinforcing which will be poured after the walls are poured and set.  The pouring of the walls will form the chase for the posts.

I am in Washington, halfway between Portland (Oregon) and Seattle about 20 minutes off I-5.

Best time to visit is after I start and before I finish.  (Well, you asked . . .)

I don't expect visitors to do anything on the chicken house.  I don't expect the papercrete portion to take more than a couple weeks and most of that will be spent waiting for layers of papercrete to dry.  I have the other building materials onsite, just need to get the mixer built and purchase or rent a pump.  I need to experiment a bit with pourous forms before I start, so that'll take a bit.  I'll report the results here.

I'm not planning on charging, paying or feeding anyone, but might be able to scrape together sustenance if someone is around at mealtime.  I can pitch a tent of someone's here overnight.
