[papercreters] Re: Looking for a new place to call home.

The county building and planning division in Cochise County, Arizona embraces alternative building with an opt-out plan. Basically for $500 you opt out of all building codes and inspections except for septic and set backs (size of building and distance to easements, roads, etc.) Land where I am is about $750 an acre for unimproved property and goes up if if it has a well, power pole, etc. Certain areas of the county allow the opt-out plan, other areas don't. The elevation ranges between 3,500 and 5,000 feet elevation, its in the extreme SE corner of the state near Mexico and New Mexico.
