Re: [papercreters] Looking for paper shredder

I have never shreded paper or cardboard before mixing. I usualy use lefty
over catalogues from the delivery service. They arrive in stacks and I
just through handfulls in at a time and don't be in too much of a hurry to
get them mixed. If they soak a litle first they seem to mix easier. I
think the end product is better when all the fibers are teased apart by
the mixer rather than cut short.

[papercreters] Looking for paper shredder

Hi, I fairly new to papercrete. I had an older model Fellowes shredder that worked great. My husband wanted a new micro cut and saw a sale that gave a big discount for turning in your old one. Now we have a fancy micro-cut shredder that won't do newspaper and I'm having trouble finding one that will. Any recommendations for brands or models?

[papercreters] PC Project started in Jan of 2008

Well we are finally at the end of the interior part of this 2 ½ year project. We still have a kiva fire place to build but it doesn't stop us from living in the new PC bedroom.
This much needed new PC addition to our existing home has added an additional 725 square feet of space.
The Exterior Papercrete walls are still raw but we plan on getting started on them in the next month or two.
So if anyone is out there that would like to come help Ron on doing the finishing part feel free to contact us. Maybe we can help each other out.
He is full of information just can't get him to set down at the computer long enough to add to the discussions at this time but he assures me he will do that once he is completely done, I wonder when that will be. He has been building for eight years now.

papercrete/paper adobe. I have stopped using cement long ago and only use clay  for a binder in my blocks. I use cardboard for the pulp and it works very well  indeed with clay. I don't even use much clay as I have found that very little is  needed, perhaps one small shovelful per block. I too am not much on details but  rather focus on results. I also make blocks with only cardboard pulp and they  work very well and are of course lighter than the blocks made with clay. The  idea that clay does not adhere to anything  is rather ludicrous as it sticks to  everything and is a pain to remove when it dries.
