[papercreters] Little place on the mesa. [1 Attachment]

I'm thinking of putting my place on the market but wanted to offer it to friends and papercrete lovers first. I have a 1/12 acre lot at the tip of the mesa with a great view of the Pedernal and Chama River valley, 2 12 X 16 buildings with fireplaces, adobe floors and nice plaster, deeded access and possible well agreement. I also put in a nice raised bed garden with good soil and a few fruit trees. It's off grid but electric is close.  Message me for price and details.

[papercreters] I am interested.....



Dear all member of groups,
I am interested to make papercrete as wall panel. Is there properties standard of wall panel?
Anyone knows how to mix -- paper, like newspaper -- in wet or dry condition? If paper in wet condition, how many percent of water content?

Also, when you made your tow mixer did you first remove the brake shoes?  I've had mine seize up because a brake shoe got stuck to the inside of the drum.  It is an easier fix than tearing the differential apart.  Take off a wheel, remove the drum, take the shoes out and re-assemble.  If it is as frozen as you say and it is because of a seized shoe it will be hard to get apart (think big hammer, long pry bar).  But even if you wreck the drum it is not necessary for a tow mixer, (the edge could get cracked and chipped all you need is the stud for the tire in the middle).

My tow mixer is several years old and I haven't used it in a couple of years,  I went to use it the other day and the blade will not turn, the mixer will not move forward.   Any ideas on how to loosen it all up?  There is some rust, I don't know if that's the whole reason or what.  I've sprayed it with WD40'w rust dissolver and smacked the blade a few times with a hammer to try to knock it loose but nothing so far.  I'm hoping I don't have to replace the axle,  really hoping!  Anyone else have this happen?

If you can open it and find rust is the issue fill it with a 10:1 water: molasses and give it a week or two.

You can flip it over and remove the cover from the differential to see what's going on inside. You might be able to carefully apply leverage to the gears and break it loose but remember that those gears are really hard steel and fairly brittle because of that, so don't bang on them!

My tow mixer locked up on me last year and when I pulled the rear cover off a lot of broken gear pieces fell out. I think it was bad from the git-go as one wheel would lock up and skid and I would have to back up a bit and then take off again..It did this sporadically at first and gradually got worse and died but it held together for 3 or 4 years and a lot of blocks. I pulp heavy soaked cardboard and fill the tank and mound it before filling with water. It puts a severe strain on the machine as my Dodge diesel 3/4 pickup grunts a bit in first gear to get it moving. I am rebuilding it with another differential currently. I made the mistake of welding the trailer frame directly to the axle tubes so now I'm making a seperate frame and hitch and will fasten the diff with u bolts as I should have done in the first place. I'm not sure that the water that gets in the oil would cause things to break up as it travels at such a slow speed. Proper lubrication and
good oil would be more critical at faster speeds of course but I can't see any great heat buildup at such a slow speed. I am going to put soaked newspaper in the bottom of the mix from now on and maybe that would ease the load when starting up. If that fails I will have to load it in stages. I don't want to do that but that would be preferable to another breakdown.

I really hope you removed
the brakes from you axle.If
they are in there it is easy for them to lock it all up.

It may have locked up
because of lack of fluid in the diffy, a chipped tooth on a
gear that locked the gears bad hub bearings no grease in
them also either way it should be opened up and inspected
there are many many things that can lock up a empty
mixer.
