[papercreters] tow mixer locked

My tow mixer is several years old and I haven't used it in a couple of years,  I went to use it the other day and the blade will not turn, the mixer will not move forward.   Any ideas on how to loosen it all up?  There is some rust, I don't know if that's the whole reason or what.  I've sprayed it with WD40'w rust dissolver and smacked the blade a few times with a hammer to try to knock it loose but nothing so far.  I'm hoping I don't have to replace the axle,  really hoping!  Anyone else have this happen?

[papercreters] Re: So where is one allowed to use paercrete?

FEMA has nothing to do with your question. If you have county/city codes outstanding in your locale then they are dominant. Without the requisite permit you are building a illegal structure in their eyes. Second the codes usually specify `graded` materials that meet things like WPA, ASTM, UL requirements for use.

[papercreters] So where is one allowed to use paercrete?

First off let me introduce myself my name is Lou I reside in the high desert of Arizona real close to Arcosanti. I've have an interest in papercrete for some time now but am concerned as to what codes allow and don't. I realize this question wold primarily with local building codes allowed or disallowed in accordance with what was lobbied by big construction companies ...it's all about the profit.

I've also heard that FEMA allows the use in area where local codes do not, if it is designated for use as safe room/house/bomb shelter..ect.   verifying this has been difficult.     Look forward to meeting people of the same interests.

Re: [papercreters] fiberadobe

Greetings,

If you want good adobe, rule number one, leave the cement out.  They don't mix.  Cement holds water, not what you want.  I did fidobe with 50/50 clay and Texas heavy clay that withstood a full mud pit season, no protection and only shrank by 25%.  The sample that was painted was perfect at the end of the year.  My measurement are by weight, not volume. However, you have to dig quite the hole to build a house.

Ask the cob people about cement and clay building, they know.

Greetings,

I just got this link from my permaculture tutor. It is really full of
solution for the future, so I am sharing. I have also sent this to
friends with the technical savy to tear the idea apart, and I will pass
that info on, but this looks real. Enjoy the message.
