Re: [papercreters] Re: No-tow mixers

Thank you very much for your fast reply! (And the thank you goes also to all the list-members, for your invaluable insight, as we will be trying to make papercrete here in Romania for the first time in the coming months, to use it for indoor and outdoor concrete furniture).

You just solved a puzzle for me now - pulping paper won't be a problem for us, as we're also papermakers - so we would pulp the paper separately, using a mixer (and in the near future, using a hydrapulper). Therefore, if we pulp the paper first, as we do it now for making handmade paper, then we can use the simplest concrete mixer just to mix the papercrete ingredients.

Best regards,
Ion

No easily. The problem is that it will not pulp the paper as is necessary. If you use a pressure washer or other method to pulp the paper, you can mix the portland and other aggregates with it in that type of mixer (I speak from experience here), but if you are doing large amounts I would recommend either a mortar mixer (gas powered) or tow mixer. The mortar mixer is slower, as it has to pulp the paper first then have the portland and other ingredients added, but it does work.
