Excellent suggestion Bob.  I was going to put a 1/2" plywood skirt from the inside of the top of the form to  hang down the necessary  8" to cover the gap in the lower two blocks.  That would have consumed 2 pieces of plywood 16"X33" each and be a permanent part of the mold (more than 2 sheets of plywood for my 8 forms).  I can make the skirts the way you describe with half of that and attach them to the molds with a couple of clamps.  My 3 wheeler shed is only 15'X8" so the longer forms you mention will be unwieldy for this project.
