I was definitely down for it until last night. While we were running in the desert my dog Shadow ran into something, probably barbed wire or concertina from the nearby military installation. Blood was pouring out of his leg through a 2"x1" hole, and I couldn't stop it, so we headed for the emergency room. Turns out he severed an artery and damaged some tendons, had multiple lacerations, and a jagged forked gash on his shoulder. He was in surgery until 2am and we got to come home this morning. He's in a morphine snooze right now. Prognosis is good, but the episode did unmentionable things to the bank account and it's not over yet. He does not have medical coverage : (
I still plan to make it, just have to figure out the finances and timing with work. Luckily it is a while, so lots of time to establish Plan B. Shadow should be well on his way to recovery by late September.
